For my Book of the Week, I feature Snow on the Water, the 1998 edition of Jim Kacian’s popular Red Moon Anthology. I can’t imagine the size of the task the editors of this series set themselves each year, to cull through more than 2000 entries, by over a thousand poets, to come up with what they regard as the best in haiku, senryu, haibun, essays and linked forms published in English the previous year. For 1998, the editors we have to thank were:
Jim Kacian ◊ Editor-in-Chief
Jan Bostok ◊ Tom Clausen ◊ Ellen Compton
Dee Evetts ◊ Maureen Gorman
Lee Gurga ◊ Yvonne Hardenbrook
H. F. Noyes ◊ Kohjin Sakamoto ◊ Jeff Witkin
It is impossible to give a flavour of the anthology in this short space, but here are two of my favourites:
funeral procession. . .

— Randy Brooks, USA
between my rush to be ready
and her arrival —
— John Stevenson, USA
