Our Book of the Week is by Larry Eigner (1927-1996), American poet, and one of the principal figures in the Black Mountain School. These selections of short poems from The World and its Streets, Places are haiku-like, and virtually indistinguishable from the accepted practice by many haiku poets writing today.
squirrels and birds
the open lawn
thunder, but mostly rain
sides of the road
no thing, quiet, the air
the tree moves
