Gerald Vizenor is an American writer and citizen of the White Earth Nation in Minnesota. He is the author of historical novels, fiction, and poetry, including haiku, which he encountered more than sixty years ago in Japan as a soldier in the United States Army. His book from 1962, Two Wings the Butterfly, is our Book of the Week.
