Kalina has a bachelor degree in International Economics and Management from Bocconi University - Italy. She is a member of the World Haiku Association and writes haiku in English, Italian, and Bulgarian. Her haiku have appeared in several anthologies such as Haiku Zbornik Ludbreg (2010), International Capoliveri Haiku Anthology (2009 and 2010), and Cascina Macondo's Anthology (2010). She has also published her haiku in Modern Haiku, Mainichi Daily News, The Heron's Nest, Simply Haiku, and Time Haiku.
Awards and Other Honors: Award, 7th Setouchi Matsuyama Photo Haiku Contest (Japan, February 2018); Runner-up, Haiku Masters (NHK, Japan, October and November 2017); Honorable Mention, 15th Mainichi Daily News haiku contest (Japan, 2011); Runner-up, Basho Memorial Haiku Contest (Japan, 2011 and 2012); Third Prize, 12th International poetry contest 'Melnik Poetry Evenings' (Bulgaria); Commended, Fourth National Haiku Contest Honorable Mention and medal for poetry, International Literary Contest 'Rainbow of Life' (Italy); included in top 100 the most creative haiku authors in Europe (2010 and 2011); Honorable Mention, 14th Mainichi Daily News haiku contest (2010); Honorable Mention, International Literature Contest 'Rainbow of Life'- Lendinara, Italy (where she was awarded a medal for foreign haiku in Italian in 2009 and 2010; Commended, Third Bulgarian haiku contest. In 2009 one of her haiku was projected at Riverbeats Festival in Australia.
